For non-professionals, cooking has become an oasis of peace, a way to disconnect from day-to-day life, and this new hobby has caused the number of courses and gastronomy classes to skyrocket. It's a good option for chefs, but also a tool for companies that want to get their product out there. This is the case of Bulthaup Girona, in Girona, which has conceived its gastronomy class with two objectives: to bring potential clients to its permanent kitchen exhibition and to bring a group of people together every fifteen days who want a different culinary experience.

What makes it different? To start with, the fact that it's run by chef Jordi Dalmau, who worked alongside Santi Santamaria for 12 years. Dalmau prepares an innovative dish with seasonal products which is always paired with an appropriate wine. The attendees, however, do not cook. They observe, make notes, exchange opinions and, at the end, try a portion of the dish prepared. This is because the class is not intended as a system to learn to cook, but rather a way to generate ideas to escape the traditional dishes when you have guests over and also as a meeting point to encourage professional relationships between the attendees. “It's not a learning experience, it's therapeutic”, states Eugènia Vayreda, head of communication and marketing. In order to enhance this experience, at every session there's a professional guest who contributes his or her own know-how. Famous names such as Joan Roca, Nando Jubany and Pere Massana have already attended or are scheduled to attend. However, the collaborations go beyond this with companies from the sector such as Pordamsa giving their support. Bulthaup's director, Leopold Bautista, was certain of one thing: the dishes that would be cooked in his gastronomy class could only be served on porcelain pieces such as those produced by Pordamsa, because their pure, white lines perfectly compliment Bulthaup's image and design. Oh! And this whole experience is soon to be made into a book with the recipes prepared during the first and recently premièred second season of this class, which the regulars already have marked in their diaries.
