The 2020 edition of the Food & Hospitality, Tourism and Gastronomy Forum, organised by Fira de Barcelona and Alimentaria Exhibitions, was held in Barcelona on 28th and 29th of September. As a result of the situation caused by the coronavirus, especially in the gastronomy, restaurant, tourism and agri-food sectors, each one of the sessions, conferences, debates and round tables of these two days revolved around the unifying slogan 'Rethinking the future' in order to come up with the first lines of post-Covid action.

The meeting was divided into three different thematic blocks: Catering, Foodservice and Agri-food Production; Hospitality, Communities and Tourism; and Retail, Large-scale Food Distribution and the Value Chain. In addition, the FHG Forum premiered under a new hybrid format that combined attendance, together with a prevention protocol to guarantee the safety of all those attending, with live broadcasts of all the content, in order to reach more people and encourage greater participation. In this way, almost 1,300 professionals followed the event: 584 in person and 751 online.

Ferran Adrià, president of the elBullifoundation, was in charge of opening the congress. Josep Roca, co-owner of the Celler de Can Roca, gave the talk "The phylloxera of the human being. Survival and happiness", and both Adrià and Roca also took part in the round table conference called "Keys to success in overcoming the crisis", made up of Nandu Jubany, from Can Jubany, Artur Martínez, from the Aürt restaurant, and Pep Palau, managing partner of the Gastronomic Forum. They all stressed the importance of training restaurateurs in business management, of maintaining enthusiasm, seeking opportunities and continuing to innovate. On the other hand, with regard to the tourism and hospitality sectors, the FHG Forum analysed their immediate future, their ways of surviving and how to access funding and public-private cooperation. Even so, not everything was theoretical, as practical cases of innovative projects in the commercialisation of agriculture were also organised, such as those of Cristina Caparrós (La Platgeta), Gemma Navas (Del Parc a Plat), Sergi Roca (Plant on Demand), etc.
